  • MARKET AND PALAFRUGELL

Palafrugell is a town right in the middle of the Costa Brava. It has a population of some 20,000 inhabitants, making it the most heavily inhabited town in the region.

The municipality consists of Palafrugell, as well as the rural nuclei of Santa Margarida, Ermedàs and Llofriu, at the foothills of Les Gavarres, and the coastal villages of Calella, Llafranc, Tamariu and Aigua Xelida.

In Palafrugell, the Plaça Nova is the hub of the town. Here, in the centre, all commercial and cultural activities take place. There is the daily vegetable, meat and fish market, businesses and shops, such as the hundred-year-old cake shop Pastisseria Serra, the Fundació Vila Casas, Can Mario Museum, the Cork Museum and the Fundació Josep Pla.
